Useful information & self care

  • The café is on the ground floor. Open Mon – Sat: 9am – 5pm, Sun: 10am-5pm.

  • Summerhall is dog friendly.

  • The exhibition presents a wide variety of themes and topics. Please be aware that some may be affecting, thought provoking, adult, everyday and/or awesome.

  • The outdoor courtyard can be a good space to visit for anyone needing some space during the busy launch and at other times.

  • We offer various leaflets and information on sources of support for mental health.

Getting there

  • A few minutes’ walk from South Clerk Street which is well served by Lothian Buses.

  • Only on street paid parking nearby.

  • Vehicles can enter the courtyard only briefly, to drop off or pick someone up.

The building

  • The front entrance has steps and no handrail.

  • Step free access is at the rear of the building.

Step free access at back of building

There is step free access via the courtyard, which is accessed via Summerhall Square. Follow the ramp to enter the building from the rear.

People needing step free access can be dropped off or picked up with a vehicle at the gate, or in the courtyard itself. It is not possible to park as the car park is very small.

If in a vehicle, when you arrive at the gate press the buzzer or phone Reception on 0131 560 1580 and they will open it.

Inside the building

  • The exhibition is on the ground floor in four galleries, and on the first floor in the corridor and in one gallery.

  • Signage will show which galleries are showing OOSOOM exhibition.

  • Members of the OOSOOM team will be available to direct visitors, as much as possible.

  • Inside, there is stair, ramp and lift access to all areas.

  • There are gender neutral toilets on each floor.

  • There is lift access to all floors of Summerhall.

  • Lift door: 92cm

  • Lift space: 124cmx188cm

Accessibility

  • Borrow ear defenders, fidget toys, coloured overlays

  • Pick up Easy Read and large print leaflets.
