‘I Didn’t Kill Myself That Day Because…’ is a collaborative artwork conceived by Luke ‘Luca’ Cockayne. Visitors to the OOSOOM 2022 exhibition are invited to finish the sentence and reflect on the reasons why we’re still alive.
The piece is influenced by Luca’s own experience of suicide attempts and near attempts and the reasons why they didn’t ‘succeed’. Whether it was events out of his control, or something that changed his mind, even the smallest most inconsequential seeming things have saved his life – including, on one occasion, not wanting to waste some fancy sausages.
