2020

Out of Sight Out of Mind in 2020 took place in November, at Summerhall in Edinburgh and also for the first time as an online exhibition. Artworks by 83 people who have experience of mental health issues were shown. Having both options increased potential for people to see the exhibition during COVID restrictions. It had its first online launch, workshops and the usual meet the exhibitors event called ‘OOSOOM Uncovered’ event, also online. Exhibition goers had to book their visit to Summerhall and it was quickly fully booked. 163 people attended and by the end of November 2020 the website had 2212 visitors, some from as far away as America and Zimbabwe!

2020 Poster

Since Out of Sight Out of Minds’ beginning in 2013, Michael Dawson has designed the exhibition poster. Each year, working closely with the Planning Group he takes inspiration from the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival annual theme, which this year is ‘perspectives’.

Talking about the design this year Michael commented:

Let us hope that, like the image we all take the road over the mountains and into the skies dreaming, dreaming. As Pina Bausch said - “Dance dance otherwise we are lost.”’

What does it mean to you? 2020

Each year we ask; if you are a visitor to the exhibition, an exhibitor, a friend or relative of one, a project partner or anyone else at all, ‘What does the exhibition means to you?’

We appreciate the responses and hearing the different meanings the exhibition has.
