With mental health and wellbeing having been discussed so widely in the public realm during the previous 18 months, the exhibition returned with even more relevance in for its 9th year.

The exhibition took place at Summerhall Edinburgh, and online. 129 people with experience of mental health issues showed a total of 93 artworks. The launch online for the second year. There were 610 visits to Summerhall and by the end of the exhibition period, the website had had 1,268 unique website visitors, in 38 countries.

Many exhibitors were inspired by this years Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival theme of ‘normality’ in the making of their artworks.

2021 Poster

Since Out of Sight Out of Minds’ beginning in 2013, Michael Dawson has designed the exhibition poster. Working closely with the Planning Group, inspiration starts with the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival annual theme, which this year is ‘normality’.

About this year’s poster, Michael said:

Shed cascades

Of keys to unlock sprouting
